Explore your creativity within the world of sculpture, and wear it! Gain new skills within 3-D design using fabric and other materials to create wearable projects. This spring, you will have access to the Grand Rapids Art Museum’s permanent collection to gain inspiration for your creative concepts to complete a wearable piece. Basic techniques for sewing, dying fabric and creating patterns for small projects will also be covered.
John Cox specializes in color, design and textiles. He has taught fiber arts at WMCAT since 2008. John earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Kendall College of Art and Design with additional studies in textiles, industiral design and art history. He owned an arts retail business in Grand Rapids for 12 years and worked as an artist in Japan. John has displayed his work at galleries throughout west Michigan. Currently he is working on a collaborative project with artists in Canada.
