(Two semesters studio)
Learn techniques for sewing, dyeing fabric and creating patterns for small projects. By using felt, yarn, paper, fabric, and found objects you’ll also learn to use your fashion sense for the good of the community. Culminating projects in the past include a community fashion show and designing a product for a community partner.
John Cox specializes in color, design and textiles. He has taught fiber arts at WMCAT since 2008. John earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Kendall College of Art and Design with additional studies in textiles, industiral design and art history. He owned an arts retail business in Grand Rapids for 12 years and worked as an artist in Japan. John has displayed his work at galleries throughout west Michigan. Currently he is working on a collaborative project with artists in Canada.
