The WMCAT WOW award is to recognize those who use creativity to change lives. WMCAT is proud to present this inaugural award to Brian Cloyd,

Vice President of Global Community Relations at Steelcase, Inc. Brian has used innovation, imagination, and inspiration to develop and sustain
creative approaches to education, work, and culture for more than 25 years throughout Michigan.

Brian’s community involvement includes:

• West Michigan Center for Arts & Technology, Board Chair
• Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, Board Chair
• Grand Rapids University Preparatory Association, Board Chair
• Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council, Board Member
• Michigan Manufacturers Association, Board Member
• Workforce Development Council, Board Member
• Northern Michigan University, Trustee Board Chair
• College of Arts and Education – University of Detroit Mercy, Advisory Council
• Grand Valley State University College of Business, Advisory Council
• Diversity Executive magazine, Executive Leadership Council & Editorial Board

Before joining Steelcase, in 1978, Brian worked for the City of Grand Rapids as a supervisor. His primary
objective was job training for economically disadvantaged people.

Born March 17, 1951, in St. Louis, Mo., he earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Detroit in
1973. In 1976, he received a master of arts from the University of Detroit in public administration.

• University Prep Academy (Grand Rapids Public Schools) – Co-founder and member of the Board of Directors

In short, Brian has used innovation, imagination, and inspiration to
develop and sustain creative approaches to education, work, and
culture for more than 25 years throughout Michigan.

We hope you will join us at iBall, a Celebration of iNnovation, iMagination, iNspiration and honor Brian Cloyd’s devotion to helping so many people in our community and beyond. Funds raised through this event will support the mission of WMCAT to provide opportunities for people of all ages to seek, learn and grow in an environment that inspires hope and motivation for individuals to make a positive social change and economic progress in their lives and their community.
